WE’RE OLHEART!

At Olheart our oil is produced exclusively using Olives picked from “Koroneiki” Olive Trees straight from the Messara Plain, at the heart of Cretan land where these olives have been grown since the Minoan times.

The Messara Plain or simply Messara translated into ( Greek: Μεσσαρά) is an alluvial plain in southern Crete, stretching around 50 km west-to-east and 7 km north-to-south, making it the largest plain in Crete. On a hill at its west end are the ruins of Phaestus, a Bronze age archaeological site and at the centre are the ruins of the ancient city of Gortys.

The unique climate and geographical features of this southernmost area of the European continent create an excellent environment for olive cultivation.

The harvest of the Koroneiki variety olive fruit begins in early December when the olive skin turns from yellow-green to red-purple, and half of its flesh turns the same colour.
